Exodus 3:4. When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am." NIV
In a devotion I was reading this week, which included the above Scripture, the question was asked, "Where did you meet God this week?" All sorts of visions raced through my mind of which some were of Moses meeting God in the burning bush, Paul meeting God on the road to Damascus, and Jacob wrestling with the angel. So based on these examples, I had never had any meetings with God.
The more I thought about the question, however, the more my awareness of “meeting with God” began to expand. A collogue phoned, and I realised I had met God in that phone call and then later over a cup of coffee. While walking in the my dog that morning I met God in the friendly "Good morning" from other walkers, in the sound of a couple of ducks we pass most days, and in the arrival of new blossoms on the tress as spring came to the park. I met God in the smile of a lady in the bank and in the newspaper report I read in the newspaper about teenagers who are making a positive difference in our community.
I’ve been thinking that I have discovered that God calls to us in all the ins and outs of life, the daily experiences and routines as well as those momentous "burning bush" moments. We can meet and see God everywhere all the time if we care to take notice.
Prayer
Thank you God, for revealing yourself to us in all the happenings and activities of our lives. Thank you for those who ask questions that lead us to greater awareness of you. Amen.
