2 Corinthians 1:21. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, NIV

I have gone through periods when I assumed my success in living the Christian life depended solely upon me. During those periods, I found myself being very critical of others. I judged myself as more dedicated to God than others and others to be slack in their devotion. These periods always ended with some failure that called me back to God. I have found that trusting in my efforts, relying solely upon my own strength, will always lead to failure.

My growth in the Christian life requires that I walk humbly and obediently with God. It is not my place to judge the walk of others. Our walk with God is a partnership. As we study the Bible, apply it to our lives, to our churches, and pray to know God's will, we are made stronger, day by day.

We must put in great effort, but the strength and the will to do so will have to come from God, who reshapes us to the image of Christ, stabilising us and making us firm in our faith. It is God who establishes us, God who brings solidity and stability to our life in Christ.

We sure need to partner with God if we are to survive.

Prayer

Lord, when we attempt to walk in our strength rather than yours, remind us to put our confidence in you. We need your guidance this day and every day. Amen.

Thought

The Christian life is partnership with God; it is not all up to me.

 Focus

To see where I need to rely more on God
